Performance of elastic couplings and characteristics of commonly used materials

An elastic coupling is a cylindrical pin with an elastic sleeve at one end, installed in the flange holes of the two halves of the coupling to achieve the connection of the two halves of the coupling. The elastic coupling has the function of shock absorption, two axis offset compensation, working temperature of -20 to 70 degrees, shaft hole size can be selected from 9 to 220, torque can be as low as 6.3, and torque can be as high as 16000N. M. In addition to good cushioning and shock absorption performance, it has a large load-bearing capacity and is suitable for situations with significant changes in speed and load, as well as high or low temperatures.
Elastic couplings have large, simple and reasonable structures, convenient maintenance, symmetrical and interchangeable on both sides, and long service life. Elastic couplings are usually made of metal round rods cut by wire, and commonly used materials include aluminum alloy, stainless steel, and engineering plastics. Elastic couplings use parallel or spiral groove cutting systems to adapt to various deviations and transmit torque. Elastic couplings usually have good performance and price advantages, and in many practical applications of stepper and servo systems, elastic couplings are products. The integrated design enables the elastic coupling to transmit torque without gaps and without maintenance.
Elastic couplings are relatively commonly used nowadays. Rigid couplings do not have elastic components and do not have shock absorption and buffering functions. Elastic couplings are suitable for connecting two coaxial transmission shaft systems, with compensation for relative deviation between two shafts, shock absorption, wear resistance, and buffering performance. Elastic couplings have a relatively large structure that is simple and reasonable, easy to maintain, symmetrical and interchangeable on both sides, long service life, and allow for large axial movement. They have buffering, shock absorption Wear resistance and other properties. In addition to corrosion resistance, elastic couplings also increase torque bearing capacity and rigidity, and can even reach twice that of similar products made of aluminum alloy. However, this increased torque and rigidity will be offset to some extent by the increased mass and inertia. Sometimes the negative impact can outweigh its advantages, forcing users to look for other forms of couplings.
When selecting, please note that the rated torque must be greater than the system load torque. The rated torque has taken into account the variable load factor during operation, so there is no need to adjust the rated torque value during selection. The commonly used elastic couplings now have their own standard models. Elastic couplings are commonly used in equipment, and the commonly used models of elastic couplings are divided into plum blossom elastic couplings, elastic diaphragm couplings, star shaped elastic couplings, and aluminum alloy elastic couplings. Elastic coupling is a cylindrical pin made of several non-metallic elastic materials, placed in the flange holes of the two halves of the coupling, and connected through the cylindrical pin. The coupling has a simple structure and is easy to manufacture. It is convenient to install, disassemble, and replace elastic components without moving the two couplings.
