Elastic couplings have general shock absorption and certain biaxial offset compensation capabilities, and should be used in situations with variable forward and reverse rotation and frequent starting. The elastic coupling is suitable for coaxial transmission shafting. It uses the Shear strength of the cross section of nylon rod to transmit torque, and has a certain ability to compensate for shaft offset. The pin in the elastic coupling shaft is in the shear and extrusion state when working, and its strength condition is to calculate the Shear strength on the cross section of the elastic pin and the extrusion strength between the pin and the pin hole wall.
Elastic coupling is a cylindrical pin made of several non-metallic elastic materials, placed in the flange holes of the two halves of the coupling, and connected through the cylindrical pin. The coupling has a simple structure and is easy to manufacture. It is convenient to install, disassemble, and replace elastic components without moving the two couplings. The material of elastic components (column pins) is generally nylon, which has the ability to slightly compensate for the deviation of two axes. The elastic components are subjected to shear during operation, resulting in extremely poor reliability. They are only suitable for medium speed transmission shaft systems with very low requirements and are not suitable for working conditions with high reliability requirements, such as the transmission shaft system of lifting mechanisms in lifting machinery.
It should not be used for low speed, heavy load, and transmission shaft systems with strong impact and vibration. It should not be selected for working conditions with large radial and angular displacement, as well as transmission shaft systems with low installation accuracy, and are considered obsolete varieties. Couplings are widely used as universal components, and in the installation, inspection, and maintenance processes of machines, it is often necessary to measure the alignment error of couplings. The requirement for axial deviation is not high, as long as the strength of the matched part is sufficient to not affect the transmission of torque.
